The meaning behind the purple

At Swiss Cycology Tours, we believe the small details matter — from smooth roads to the colours that define who we are. You’ve probably noticed the bold purple woven through our logo, jerseys, and materials. It’s not just a design choice. It’s inspired by the wild purple flowers that grow in the heart of the Swiss Alps — most notably, the alpine aster (Aster alpinus).

These high-altitude blooms are as tough as they are beautiful. Growing between 1,500 and 3,000 metres above sea level, they thrive in rocky meadows despite the thin soil, harsh weather, and short growing season. They’re among the first to bloom after the snow melts, signaling the start of spring and a return to the mountains — just like the start of a new cycling season. Their presence in the Alps is a reminder of strength, resilience, and the quiet power of nature — qualities we see mirrored in every ride we lead.

Why purple?

When we created the Swiss Cycology Tours brand, we wanted a colour that captured the feeling of riding through the Alps: powerful, calm, focused, free. The vivid purple of alpine wildflowers spoke to all of that. It’s a colour that says you’re not just looking at the landscape — you’re part of it.

So next time you're on a ride with us, keep an eye out for those flashes of purple along the trail. They're more than flowers. They're a symbol of the spirit behind every Swiss Cycology Tour.
