Our full 7-day Switzerland Alpine Ascent Tour cycling holiday typically runs from Sunday to Saturday. It starts in the town of Andermatt, where some of the country’s most iconic climbs are within easy reach. Over the following days you will get the chance to ride them all. After three nights in Andermatt, a short transfer takes you to the area around Thusis/Andeer, from where some real gems await – including a ride to the highest permanently inhabited village in Europe (with only about 30 inhabitants!). We end the tour in Thusis, before saying goodbye and transferring you back to Zurich airport.
With Swiss Cycology Tours, unlike some other cycling tours in Europe, it’s always possible to customise elements of the route to meet specific fitness levels and cycling goals. So please contact us and we’d be happy to discuss what would work for you.

How we handle
Alpine weather
One of the things that we think make our Switzerland cycling holiday tours so special, is the mountain passes that we take you over – all of which top out at more than 2,000m above sea level. And with this can come some unpredictable weather. While we do everything we can to work around this, sometimes our routes and planning may need to change and we’ll always give you as much notice as possible when this has to happen. Thanks for understanding.

Questions about the
Alpine Ascent Tour?
What are the accommodation options?
Our accommodation is based on 4/3-star hotels, meaning that you can relax and recover in comfort. Specific details on the hotels will be shared in the pre-tour information pack. If you’d like to discuss other accommodation options that might better suit your needs, please contact us.
How large are the groups on the tours, and is there a minimum or maximum group size?
Our ideal group size is 8 people, which we find to be the perfect number in terms of helping generate a team spirit but also allowing us to make sure everyone gets the care and attention they deserve. However, if you had a specific group size in mind, please contact us to see what might be possible.
What kind of support is provided during the rides?
Our team van will meet you at various points on each ride, the locations of which will be communicated at the start of each day, meaning that you can regularly rest and refuel as needed. The van will carry food and drink and other essentials like a toolkit and spare inner tubes. And of course, any items of personal kit that you don’t want to carry yourself.
How fit do I need to be to take part in one of your tours?
One of the things that we think make our rides so special, is the mountain passes that we take you over – all of which top out at more than 2,000m above sea level. With this can come some unpredictable weather, and a range of temperatures as you ascend and descend. Our advice is to dress in layers, so that you adjust what you wear as necessary. But don’t worry too much, as our tour van is always on hand, allowing you to rest and warm up as needed, and of course, to carry any spare kit that you don’t want to ride with.
