DAY TWO

Queen Stage

The opening full day of riding is our Queen Stage – a true Alpine epic. We roll out from Andermatt with a sweeping descent to Wassen before tackling the mighty Susten Pass. From its summit, a flowing descent leads us into Innertkirchen, where the steady, relentless gradients of the Grimsel Pass await. At the top, take a moment to admire the panorama — the ribbon of tarmac curling down the Grimsel side and, in the distance, the famous Furka Pass. A twisting drop into Gletch delivers us to the base of our final challenge: the Furka, with its legendary Belvédère Hotel stop. From there, it’s a thrilling ride back into Andermatt, ending with a gentle spin to the hotel door.

A note on the weather

What we believe truly sets our Swiss cycling tours apart are the spectacular Alpine passes we guide you across – each one reaching heights of over 2,000 metres above sea level. At these elevations, weather conditions can be rather changeable. Whilst we do our utmost to plan around any challenges, occasionally our routes and itinerary may require adjustment, and we'll always provide you with the earliest possible notice should this be necessary. We appreciate your flexibility.

How fit do I need to be to take part in one of your Swiss cycling holidays?

One of the things that we think make our rides so special, is the mountain passes that we take you over – all of which top out at more than 2,000m above sea level. With this can come some unpredictable weather, and a range of temperatures as you ascend and descend. Our advice is to dress in layers, so that you adjust what you wear as necessary. But don’t worry too much, as our tour van is always on hand, allowing you to rest and warm up as needed, and of course, to carry any spare kit that you don’t want to ride with.
