Smooth riding ahead: why expert UCI bike support makes the difference

Your ride is at the heart of everything we do. From thoughtfully designed routes to guides who know every climb and corner, our goal is to make every kilometre feel effortless, supported, and safe.
To give you even more confidence on every tour, co‑founder Mat has recently completed the UCI World Cycling Centre’s professional mechanic training course. This internationally recognised qualification strengthens the expertise behind every bike we prepare so you can simply enjoy the ride, knowing your equipment is in the very best hands.
Mat has always been the more hands‑on co-founder of Swiss Cycology Tours, gravitating towards the tools whenever possible. “I want every guest to benefit from professional‑level standards of maintenance and mechanical care. It felt natural to learn from the people who set the standards and it’s another way we make sure every ride is fully supported.” says Mat.

UCI mechanic training
The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is the governing body of world cycling, and its World Cycling Centre (WCC) in Aigle, Switzerland, is known for training athletes, coaches and technical staff at the highest level. The WCC’s mechanic programme is designed to develop expertise and professional standards across all cycling disciplines. It covers bike building, wheel building, maintenance, servicing, ride preparation and rider position, alongside familiarisation with rules and regulations.

What it means for you
“Dialling in someone’s position or slightly adjusting the bike setup might seem like small changes, but over a multi‑day tour the setup makes a massive difference in comfort and performance,” Mat notes.
Mat’s new professional accreditation brings you tangible benefits:
You can be confident that your bike (whether it’s your own or one of our hire fleet) is built, tuned and maintained to the highest standards
Mat’s understanding of ride preparation and rider position means he can optimise your setup for long Alpine climbs and technical descents
His knowledge of rules and regulations means he’s up‑to‑date with the latest standards. “With so many new technologies it’s important to know what is UCI compliant and what isn’t. That knowledge keeps our operations professional and our guests safe,” Mat says.
Riding with confidence
Great rides start long before the first pedal stroke. They begin with meticulous preparation and a passion for perfection. Mat’s new qualification underscores our commitment to providing professional‑level support for every guest so you can ride with confidence.
Congratulations Mat — and here’s to many smooth, hassle‑free kilometres ahead for our guests!
