Our full 7-day Switzerland cycling holiday typically runs from Sunday to Saturday. It starts in the town of Andermatt, where some of the country’s most iconic climbs are within easy reach. Over the following days you will get the chance to ride them all. After three nights in Andermatt, a short transfer takes you to the town of Thusis from where some real gems await – including a ride to the highest permanently inhabited village in Europe (with only about 30 inhabitants!). We end the tour in Thusis, before saying goodbye and transferring you back to Zurich airport.

With Swiss Cycology Tours, unlike some other cycling tours in Europe, it’s always possible to customise elements of the route to meet specific fitness levels and cycling goals. So please contact us and we’d be happy to discuss what would work for you.

Accommodation for a perfect recovery

We partner with carefully selected 4/3-star hotels, giving you the space to relax, recharge, and enjoy a premium level of comfort throughout your stay. By spending multiple nights in each location, there’s no need to repack daily — so you can focus on the riding, not the logistics

We take the stress out of cycle touring allowing you to focus on riding. From hotel accommodation and airport transfers to logistics and route planning, we’re there to ensure hassle free travel.

The first day of the tour proper is the Queen stage, starting with a descent from Andermatt to Wassen, then straight into the climb up the Susten Pass. After descending to Innertkirchen, the long, steady Grimsel Pass begins. At the top, pause to enjoy views of the Grimsel descent and distant Furka Pass. A zigzag drop to Gletch sets up the final climb – the Furka where many stop at the iconic Belvédère Hotel. The descent back to Andermatt finishes with a gentle roll to the hotel.

This is the shortest day of the tour, perfect for recovery – but still unforgettable. The focus is the Oberalp Pass, a stunning climb with options depending on how you feel. You can descend straight back to Andermatt, continue to Disentis and return via the pass, or even add the Lukmanier Pass. After regrouping, we transfer together to our next base in Thusis.

DAY FIVE

Our hidden gem

At Swiss Cycology Tours, we see this ride as a true hidden gem – often unknown even to seasoned Alps riders. The route from Thusis to Juf is stunningly varied, winding through lush fields, dramatic gorges, and open mountain landscapes. With just one road in and out for most of the route, it’s blissfully quiet and low-traffic.

How we handle
Alpine weather

One of the things that we think make our Switzerland cycling holiday tours so special, is the mountain passes that we take you over – all of which top out at more than 2,000m above sea level. And with this can come some unpredictable weather. While we do everything we can to work around this, sometimes our routes and planning may need to change and we’ll always give you as much notice as possible when this has to happen. Thanks for understanding.

How fit do I need to be to take part in one of your Swiss cycling holidays?

One of the things that we think make our rides so special, is the mountain passes that we take you over – all of which top out at more than 2,000m above sea level. With this can come some unpredictable weather, and a range of temperatures as you ascend and descend. Our advice is to dress in layers, so that you adjust what you wear as necessary. But don’t worry too much, as our tour van is always on hand, allowing you to rest and warm up as needed, and of course, to carry any spare kit that you don’t want to ride with.
